Go-to Miso Gravy

On occasion if in the area, my husband and I like to grab a bite at The Naam restaurant in Vancouver. I tend to always order one of their Dragon Bowls – steamed veggies over organic brown rice with miso gravy, tofu, sprouts, grated carrots and raw beets. Since we live a fare distance away, tonight’s dinner is my attempt to replicate their miso gravy. I checked out some recipes online and came up with my own concoction to suit my taste buds.

Miso Gravy

Here’s what you’ll need:
4 Tbsp miso paste
2 cups water
2 Tbsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp flour
½ cup nutritional yeast
1 Tbsp sesame oil
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 Tbsp honey or agave syrup
2 teaspoons sriracha
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp ginger, shredded

Dissolve miso in ¼ cup warm water. Melt the coconut oil in a skillet on medium low heat, add the flour and mix together. Then add all remaining ingredients and miso mixture to skillet. Stir frequently while the mixture cooks and thickens. Serve over steamed veggies and brown rice. Enjoy!

Note: Miso paste and other ingredients can be found at your local health food store.
